How to Use Restream to Multistream on Multiple Platforms

Live streaming on one platform can help you connect with your audience, but broadcasting on multiple platforms can expand your reach without requiring you to host the same event several times.

Restream makes this possible by allowing you to connect multiple streaming destinations and distribute one live broadcast across them. It also provides a browser-based Studio for creating streams, managing guests, displaying graphics, and interacting with viewers.

Here’s how to get started.

Step 1: Create a Restream Account

Create or sign in to your Restream account.

After signing in, you’ll reach the Restream Home screen, which acts as the central place for creating and managing streams, events, channels, recordings, and analytics.

Step 2: Connect Your Streaming Channels

From the Home screen:

  1. Click Channels in the sidebar.

  2. Select Add New.

  3. Choose the platform you want to connect.

  4. Follow the platform’s authorization steps.

  5. Repeat the process for your other destinations.

Supported destinations include platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitch, and others.

Example

You could connect:

YouTube + Facebook + LinkedIn

Then send one broadcast to all three destinations.

Best Practices

Start With Two Platforms

Don’t connect every possible platform immediately. Start with the channels where your audience is most active.

Prioritize Audio Quality

A good microphone can make a bigger difference than expensive video equipment.

Prepare Scenes in Advance

Create your scenes before going live so you don’t have to build your broadcast while you’re on camera.

Engage With Viewers

Read comments and answer questions instead of treating your stream like a prerecorded video.

Repurpose Your Broadcast

Turn your recording into:

  • Short clips

  • YouTube videos

  • Social media posts

  • Blog content

  • Tutorials

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Going live without testing your microphone.

  • Connecting platforms you don’t actively use.

  • Forgetting to check the stream title.

  • Sharing private information while screen sharing.

  • Ignoring audience comments.

  • Using too many graphics.

  • Not preparing scenes beforehand.

  • Forgetting to review stream analytics.
